It was a five days trip. First stop was in Lake Thingvellir where we fished for one day. There Steve managed to catch very good arctic char around 1,5-2 kg and lots of smaller fish.   Then our destination was the highlands, a place called Arnarvatnsheidi.   This place keeps many lakes both small, big, shallow and deep. It also has many small rivers running between the lakes. To summaries the trip we fished in only 4 lakes, and 2 rivers and we left out many places to try on another time. The fishing was extraordinary, over 100 brown trout and arctic char was landed. We used small dry flies to big lures which all gave fish. As in all fishing trips we lost the big ones. In one lake Steve lost his biggest wild brown trout that he has ever cached. So we use his own words, „ he was massive“, and Steve estimated this fish over 10 pounds and we also lost a very big char that was estimated around 8 pounds. The biggest wild brown trout that was landed was 6 pound and the biggest char around 3 pounds. The average size of brown trout that we where catching was around 1,5-2 pound and for the char it was similar. This place keeps many very good spots and is very attractive for those anglers who seeks adventurous fishing. The accomodation is very basic, no luxury and we where travelling in 4X4 jeep on 35“ tires. If you are up to some walking you can be awarded with good fishing and spots that very few attend to but this place keeps many spots that has easy access to.
